The Farm School not only provides experiences here on the farm but also out in the larger world - educating farmers and feeding friends and family! Here you can find out about ways to find and enjoy our delicious organic produce, all-natural meats and free-range eggs.
Share in The Farm School bounty with a generous weekly portion of the fruits of our harvest including mesculin mix, baby arugula, heirloom tomatoes, culinary herbs, spinach, butternut squash, turnips, fingerling potatoes as well as delicious family staples such as cucumbers, broccoli, snap peas, onions, kale and much, much more!

A vital aspect of our Learn to Farm program is to teach student farmers how to grow the most exquisite produce possible and use the best practices to market it, thereby giving them the tools to farm successfully on their own. All of the produce is planted, grown, harvested, marketed and sold by Farm School children, student farmers, and staff.
What's a CSA?.......
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and indicates a method of marketing whereby clients purchase a share of the produce grown before the season, thereby sharing in the bounty and realities of the season. For the clients - known as 'share-holders' or 'members' - it provides a truly delicious and remarkable food experience.
In the case of The Farm School CSA, in addition to supplying your family with super-fresh, certified-organic produce from the fields of our Learn to Farm program, your participation in the CSA will support the training of our student farmers as they learn the growing practices and marketing techniques integral to successful farming in New England.
A $625 membership will provide you with a bushel box of certified organic vegetables every week for 21 weeks June - October. While every season is different depending on the weather and myriad other factors, our goal is to provide you with best value possible -- more often than not, the value of our CSA share is greater than if you were to buy the same vegetables at farmer's market prices.
Distribution
Chose where and how you'd like to pick up your share.
At Iggy's Bread of the World @ Fresh Pond, we have a 'market-style' pick up for members. Here, on Tuesdays with new extended hours from 1:30 - 6:30, The Farm School will set up a stand for members at which they can fill their boxes with 9 to 12 seasonal veggies from 12 to 15 options. A member of The Farm School community will be there to answer growing and cooking questions, chat about the week on the farm, and help you with your selection.
At Athenahealth on Arsenal Street in Watertown, we will provide boxed shares for members. Here, on Thursdays, boxed shares of pre-selected veggies will be left for members in a fridge for pick-up at their convenience.
At Maggie's Farm at The Farm School in Orange. Pick up your pre-boxed share right here on the farm on Thursdays. Please contact kim@farmschool.org for more information or to sign-up.
Whichever model you choose will provide an equal quantity of our excellent quality, super-fresh, certified organic vegetables.

The 2011-12 Winter Meat CSA is FULL. If you would like to be added to the wait-list, please email kim@farmschool.org.
We look forward to once again making our grass-fed and organically raised meat products available through a winter meat CSA. We’d love to offer shares to the first 40 folks who sign-up for a monthly, pre-packaged, deep-frozen selection of our lamb, beef, pork and farm fresh eggs.
Price and Program: Five months of Watertown deliveries, each delivery you can expect 12 pounds of our grass-fed, organically-fed, conscientiously-raised meats and one dozen farm fresh eggs for $600 – (a total of 60 pounds) November through March. Monthly deliveries will be at Athenahealth at 311 Arsenal Street in Watertown. Deliveries will be left in a freezer in the lobby.Delivery Dates:
Our Meats & Eggs: All of our animals here at The Farm School’s Learn to Farm program are pasture-fed (with the exception of our pigs who have stomachs much like ours and don’t convert grass to energy very effectively). Which means that our meat product is much lower in fat (4-6 times lower than grain-fed red meat), high in Omega-3 fatty acids and contain five times more conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), which can prevent and even reduce cancer growth. We do not feed grain to our cattle, sheep or work horses as they are not designed to eat concentrated grains and this stresses their bodies. Our pigs are pastured in a huge forested area where they root day and night, and are supplemented with a daily ration of organic grain. Our herd and flock are moved onto fresh grass every single day May-November and are fed hay primarily produced here on our farm throughout the winter. Our chickens are entirely free-range with a supplement of grain. These are very content, extremely healthy animals who truly thrive in their natural environment. Many of our student-farmers come to the farm without large animal experience and leave ready to respectfully raise healthy and productive animals on their own.
What you can expect: This winter meat CSA program will include 12 pounds per monthly delivery of grass-fed lamb, grass-fed beef, organically-fed pork and farm-fresh eggs. Monthly distribution will include a range of cuts. We make every attempt to include a diversity of cuts in each share. We do not take requests for particular cuts. Your meat products will be freshly processed, cryo-vacuum packaged and deep frozen at a USDA slaughterhouse (which we tour with student farmers as a piece of our curriculum). We look forward to including cooking tips, recipes and information about grass-fed meat with each monthly delivery. The Farm School meat CSA is offered through our Learn to Farm program where we offer adults a unique year-long opportunity to learn to farm by farming. Working alongside mentor farmers and growers, students participate in every aspect of the farm operation from creating the annual farm plan and project budgets to growing and marketing the product directly to customers. Your participation in our meat CSA specifically enables us to teach a newer model of direct marketing animal products to our student-farmers. We look forward to sharing the product of our beloved animals with you.
