One mile down the road from Maggie's Farm, past several of our growing fields, Sentinel Elm Farm is the base of operations for The Farm School's program for visiting schools, which hosts 3-day programs (Monday-Wednesday and Wednesday-Friday) for over 1,700 middle school students during the school year followed by 5-day summer camps for another 200+ children. Sentinel Elm Farm offers an extraordinarily rich extension of the learning ground at Maggie's Farm for the student farmers. Placed to create cross-pollination between the programs, the green house and hoop house are located at Sentinel Elm Farm. Other opportunities for mutual enrichment abound. Student farmers interested in slightly larger-scale dairying are welcome to join the chore rotation in the multi-cow, community-wide raw milk dairy at Sentinel Elm Farm. Those interested in farm-based education have an inside track at a nationally revered institution, and are welcome to develop their independent project within the program for visiting schools. Extended hours working with the draft animals at Sentinel Elm Farm are often available. And with these examples and countless others, the staff at Sentinel Elm Farm is eager to share their beautiful farm and their varied skills with each year's group of student farmers.
