Student farmers share the farm during regular school hours (8:00-3:30 Monday-Friday from September through May) with the 14 middle-school students and their teachers who make up the Chicken Coop School. Student farmers can count on the ongoing life of the Chicken Coop School and interactions with its students and teachers and parents in the fields and at the lunch table to bring real vibrancy to their days on the farm. Deeply appreciated by students and parents as the only progressive, alternative middle-school in our under-served area, the Chicken Coop School immediately imbeds student farmers in the heart of the larger local community.
